This Privacy Policy explains how Selective Communication ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use Reelens (the "Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
- Information you provide: Instagram handle/URL you submit for analysis, optional email address for receiving your report, and payment information (processed by Razorpay).
- Information collected automatically: IP address, browser type, device info, pages visited, timestamps. We use this for rate limiting, fraud prevention, and product analytics.
- Third-party data: We retrieve publicly available data from the Instagram profile you submit, including profile metadata, recent posts, captions, hashtags, and engagement counts.
2. How we use information
We use the information to:
- Generate your AI growth audit report.
- Process your payment and send the report via email (if provided).
- Maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud and abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Information we do NOT collect or do
- We do not collect Instagram passwords or login credentials.
- We do not access private Instagram accounts.
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- We do not use your data to train our own AI models.
4. Third-party services
We rely on the following third parties to deliver the Service. Each has their own privacy policy:
- Razorpay — payment processing
- Apify — public Instagram profile scraping
- OpenAI — AI analysis (GPT-5.2 family)
- Google (Gemini) — multimodal visual analysis
- Resend — transactional email delivery (when you opt in)
- MongoDB Atlas — encrypted data storage
- Sentry & PostHog — error monitoring and product analytics (optional)
Data shared with third parties is the minimum required to deliver the requested functionality.
5. Data retention
- Reports: We retain generated reports for 90 days after creation. After this period, reports may be permanently deleted.
- Payment records: Retained for 7 years to comply with Indian tax and financial regulations.
- Server logs: Rotated and deleted after 30 days.
You may request earlier deletion by emailing selectivecommunication@gmail.com.
6. Cookies and tracking
We use minimal cookies and localStorage for:
- Session management (e.g. caching a pending Instagram handle before signup).
- Product analytics via PostHog (if enabled) — these are anonymous unless you provide an email.
You can disable cookies via your browser settings; some features may not work correctly.
7. Your rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including the DPDP Act, 2023 in India), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Withdraw consent for non-essential processing.
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board.
To exercise these rights, email selectivecommunication@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy Request" and we'll respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security: HTTPS/TLS for all traffic, encrypted database storage, hashed payment tokens, and segmented infrastructure. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, contact us immediately.
10. International transfers
Data may be processed in countries outside India (Mumbai jurisdiction), including the United States (OpenAI, MongoDB) and the European Union. We rely on standard contractual clauses and the third party's compliance with applicable data protection frameworks.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy. We'll notify users of material changes via email or a banner on the site.
